This article has two principle aims: by analysing and celebrating the poetry of Pádraig Mac Fhearghusa, to remedy a significant lacuna in the body of Irish-language literary criticism in expanding upon the paucity of the published criticism of his work; and to better-understand the impact of literary modernism, transmodernism especially, in order to contextualise Mac Fhearghusa’s work in a broader context. These two aims are undertaken to note the significant contribution of Professor Máire Ní Annrachain to the scholarship of literary criticism of the contemporary literatures of the Irish language and of Scottish Gaelic in the last 40 years.
